The Community Coffee Foundation ADF Fellows Program recognizes and promotes outstanding teacher leadership in the East Baton Rouge Parish public school system. ADF Fellows work with a network of professionals to enhance their own performance and the performance of their peers to increase student achievement. Under the guidance of mentors from the ADF staff and the greater Baton Rouge community, Fellows work collaboratively in teams of 3-4 to build leadership skills, determine an education focus to investigate, and report on their findings.
The 2005 Class of ADF Fellows is in its second year of leadership development. During the 2005-2006 school year, the five ADF Fellows participated in ADF's Third Annual Leadership Institute and the Leo Broering Speaker Series both sponsored by CHASE, and held monthly meetings with other local community, business and education leaders. In May 2006, the Fellows traveled to Boston to visit schools and learn first-hand about successful approaches in education that increase student achievement. During the first year, each Fellow received a $2000 honorarium. In addition, $1000 was set aside for each Fellow to use on investigative travel or conduct appropriate school-based activities. Five days of substitute pay, to cover time away from the classroom, was also provided. In the second year, each Fellow will receive $1000 for developing a project with colleagues based on the Fellows' findings from the first year.
